Service Description
About this course Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants and children in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school-age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs. Units of competency Upon completion of this course, the following unit(s) will be issued by ABC Licence Training Pty LTD – RTO 3399 HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation HLTAID010 – Provide basic emergency life support HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting To view full unit details please visit www.training.gov.au. Course delivery This course is offered as a face-to-face course. Pre-course learning is required. Course duration For the standard course – Face to Face minimum duration is 6.5 hours. Pre-requisites There are no formal prerequisite units required for entry into this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills. Entry requirements Learners undertaking the express course must have previously completed the HLTAID012 – Provide first aid in an education and care setting. Learners will be required to provide a copy of their expiring Statement of Attainment on the day of their face-to-face course. Training requirements Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios. For students enrolling in a virtual delivery course, a training kit will be posted to students once the enrolment and payment information has been received in full. Assessment requirements Assessment activities will include a knowledge test and practical assessments including CPR and First Aid techniques and completion of documentation. Students will also complete scenarios in a simulated environment. Course renewal requirements The statement of attainment is valid for 3 years*. *Please note that the CPR component of the training is valid for 12 months. Cancellation Policy
Participants must have the online component completed prior to the practical component. All areas will be completed prior to the certificate distribution. All payments must be finalized prior to the commencement of the practical component to ensure there is no delay in the qualification. Cancelations made within 24 hours of the course will result in loss of the deposit. Minimum spend $300 per course
